The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert. The weather alert warns residents about cloud formations that carry light to moderate rain. The weather alert says that the rain can get heavy at times. The weather alert covers areas of the UAE.
According to the advisory there are active weather conditions that will impact the eastern region, the southern region and the western region. These conditions will also reach areas of the country. The rainfall is mainly caused by convective cloud development. This happens because of afternoon instability. It is also because of topographic factors. These factors are usual for summer atmospheric patterns, in the region.
The weather system is accompanied by light to moderate southeasterly to northwesterly winds that are expected to freshen at times, reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h. The NCM warned that these gusty winds could kick up dust and sand, leading to sudden reductions in horizontal visibility, particularly along open desert highways and inter-city transport routes.
Motorists have been urged to exercise caution on the roads, adhere to reduced speed limits during heavy downpours, and avoid valleys or areas prone to sudden water accumulation and flash runoffs. Meanwhile, sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to remain generally slight, though temporary choppy waters may occur near offshore rain areas.
The meteorology center emphasized that weather updates and radar imagery will continue to be monitored continuously, advising the public to follow official channels for real-time safety alerts.
