EY’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) practice has agreed to train and upskill financial personnel within the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ministry to undertake the work.

The MoU was signed by UAE MoI Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Support Services Major General Salem Ali Mubarak Al Shamsi and EY MENA Government Public Sector partner Firas Qoussous.

The agreement focuses on upgrading the technical and practical capabilities of employees working in the ministry’s financial affairs units through structured training initiatives.

It also aims to familiarise participants with international standards and leading practices in finance and accounting.

As part of the collaboration, the two sides will introduce specialised professional development programmes, promote knowledge sharing and give ministry employees access to applied learning in real work settings.

The planned activities are intended to build competencies in areas such as financial management, time management, communication and project delivery.

Shamsi underlined that the arrangement with EY demonstrates the “Ministry’s commitment to investing in the continuous development of its financial and accounting workforce, in line with international standards”.

He added that these investments improve operational efficiency, reinforce institutional performance and help advance the ministry’s strategic goals.

Qoussous said EY values its work with the MoI to build the skills of the ministry’s finance team. Participants will benefit from EY’s regional experience and global perspectives, he noted.

Earlier this month, EY introduced enterprise-scale agentic AI within its assurance practice.
