The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Federal Traffic Council and local police commanders across all seven emirates, has officially launched its nationwide “Safe School Year” campaign as hundreds of thousands of students return to classrooms. The annual safety initiative aims to minimize traffic accidents in school zones, enforce strict adherence to bus safety protocols, and ensure smooth traffic flow during peak morning and afternoon drop-off hours. Police patrols and automated traffic monitoring units have been deployed heavily around educational institutions nationwide to prevent congestion and address reckless driving.
Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, emphasized that student safety remains a top national priority. As part of the campaign, traffic authorities are enforcing zero-tolerance policies for violations near school zones, including failure to stop when school bus stop signs are deployed, exceeding posted speed limits, and Jaywalking in designated pedestrian areas.
Beyond traffic enforcement, the campaign includes comprehensive safety workshops for school bus drivers, interactive awareness programs for students, and digital guidance campaigns directed at parents and motorists. Educational authorities and health officials are also collaborating under the framework to promote health guidelines, emergency readiness, and safe transportation standards across public and private schools.
