This weekend in mountainous areas, the UAE is all set for a combination of intense summer heat, solitary rainfall and cooler conditions with temperatures expected to reach 47°C  in parts of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, according to the National Center of Meteorology ( NCM) .

Convective clouds are expected to form over eastern and southern regions during the afternoon, bringing the risk of sporadic showers, according to the NCM forecast, which calls for mainly fair to partly overcast skies throughout the nation. In comparison to rural and coastal areas, mountainous regions especially those in the Hajar range are predicted to see lower temperatures.

Inland regions will continue to experience intense temperatures despite the possibility of rain. While temperatures in Dubai and other coastal towns are predicted to stay in the mid-40s, daytime highs are predicted to reach about 47°C in some areas of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Particularly in the afternoon, the combination of high temperatures and humidity is likely to make the weather feel much hotter.

Light to moderate south-easterly winds are expected to shift north-westerly at times, with gusts reaching up to 35–40 km/h in exposed areas. These stronger winds may reduce visibility by lifting dust and sand, particularly across open desert regions. Meanwhile, sea conditions are forecast to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea, supporting generally safe marine conditions.

Weather officials said the pattern is expected to persist into the start of next week, with another chance of afternoon cloud build-up and isolated rainfall over eastern and southern parts of the country. Residents planning outdoor activities are advised to avoid prolonged exposure during peak afternoon heat, stay hydrated and monitor the latest weather updates issued by the NCM.

The combination of scorching inland temperatures, cooler mountain conditions and the possibility of localized showers reflects the UAE’s typical late-summer weather pattern, where convective cloud formation can produce brief rainfall even as much of the country remains under intense heat.
