Commuters Face Extensive Morning Delays on Key Dubai-Sharjah Arteries E11 and E311

Thousands of commuters who travel between emirates had a time on Thursday morning because of major traffic problems. The traffic was very bad on the roads that connect Sharjah and Dubai. The morning rush hour made things worse, with lines of cars stuck on Al Ittihad Road (E11) and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311). Transport authorities told drivers to expect longer travel times.

The daily inter-city transit slowdown highlights ongoing infrastructure pressure along one of the nation’s busiest commercial corridors, where tens of thousands of residents travel daily between affordable residential districts in Sharjah and primary employment hubs in Dubai. Peak morning bottlenecks flared near crucial border intersections, spilling over onto surrounding local feeder roads and industrial exit corridors.

Real-time traffic monitoring indicated that traffic along Al Ittihad Road (E11) experienced severe bumper-to-bumper conditions near the Al Khan and Al Mamzar approaches, with tailbacks extending past the inter-emirate boundary. Farther east, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) logged pronounced slowdowns near Sharjah’s Industrial Areas and key interchanges connecting to S112 and S116, reducing speeds to a slow crawl for commuters entering Dubai’s northern districts.

Traffic managers recommended Emirates Road (E611) as a viable bypass for motorists seeking to avoid core congestion points, provided their travel routes align with eastern bypass routes. Meanwhile, local traffic enforcement authorities urged motorists to maintain safe braking distances, refrain from sudden lane switching, and utilize real-time satellite navigation tools to navigate evolving bottleneck conditions during peak hours.

The recurring traffic surges come as Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority continues implementing targeted road widening projects and rapid transit solutions across major highway borders to enhance long-term capacity. Drivers traveling toward business districts in Deira, Al Qusais, and central Dubai were urged to monitor live updates before departing.
