The NCM forecasts highs of up to 45°C, with early morning fog possible and dusty conditions in western parts of the UAE.
While conditions remain typically hot for July, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts a small drop in temperatures today, especially in western parts of the country.
Slight dip in temperatures
According to the NCM, today’s weather will be fair in general. Coastal areas and islands are expected to peak between 37°C and 43°C, while internal areas will be much hotter, reaching 41°C to 47°C.
Among the major cities, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are forecast to reach 41°C, while Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain will reach 43°C. Fujairah will enjoy a comparatively cooler 37°C.
Humidity on the rise
Humidity is expected to increase overnight and into Wednesday morning, reaching up to 90% in coastal and internal regions.
The NCM has also warned of the possibility of fog or mist formation during the early morning hours tomorrow, so be cautious when driving, as you may have to contend with a drop in visibility.
Blowing dust
Light to moderate winds, blowing from the southwest to northwest at speeds of 10 to 20km/h, may freshen at times and increase to 40km/h today.
The NCM cautions residents and visitors to be aware of stronger winds, as they may raise blowing dust, especially in the daytime, over western parts of the country. The dust may also reduce visibility in open or exposed areas around the city, and in desert regions, so ensure you’re staying safe if you’re out in these locations.
Avoid the beach today in the west
With stronger winds, the NCM forecasts the Arabian Gulf to turn from moderate to rough at times, especially along the western coast, along cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Wave heights on-shore are expected to reach three feet, while off-shore waves can crash down from six feet high. It’s best to avoid beach activities today, if you are based on the west coast of the country.
The eastern coastline will see calmer seas, according to the NCM, as the Sea of Oman will remain slight throughout the day. This means stable sea conditions and gentle waves rising to a maximum of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.
