The Ministry of Interior (UAE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ernst & Young to support an upskilling initiative within the Finance Department.

The agreement focuses on upgrading the technical and practical capabilities of employees working in the ministry’s financial affairs units through structured training initiatives. It also aims to familiarise staff with international standards and leading practices in finance and accounting.

The activities are intended to build competencies in areas such as financial management, time management, communication, and project delivery.

As part of the collaboration, the two sides will introduce specialised professional development programmes, promote knowledge sharing, and give ministry employees access to applied learning in real work settings.

The Ministry of Interior is responsible for maintaining internal security, law enforcement, civil protection, and public safety across the UAE. It oversees policing, emergency response, and key national security functions that ensure stability within the country.

Finance is an important function for the ministry because it safeguards its financial management, supports the investment agenda, and ensures overall operations remain in line with budgeting from the UAE’s government.

General Salem Ali Mubarak Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Support Services at the Ministry of Interior, said that the agreement with EY will help improve operational efficiency, reinforce institutional performance and advance the ministry’s strategic goals.

He added that the contract with EY also demonstrates the ministry’s “commitment to investing in the continuous development of its financial and accounting workforce.”

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Al Shamsi and Firas Qoussous, a Partner at EY in its Public Sector practice.
