Mountainous regions see lower temperatures, while much of the country remains under intense summer heat.

Dubai: This weekend, expect cloudy weather with a chance of rainfall in certain parts of the UAE, while temperatures remain firmly in the mid- to high-40s across the country.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), today will be fair to partly cloudy, with cloud cover developing over eastern and southern areas by the afternoon.

Hot conditions continue

Temperatures will continue to remain high across the UAE today.

The NCM forecasts coastal and island areas to record highs of 43°C to 47°C, while internal areas will range between 44°C and 49°C. Mountainous regions will be relatively cooler, with temperatures between 32°C and 37°C, making summits like Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet a great option for a weekend outing.

Among major cities, Dubai and Sharjah are expected to 46°C today, while Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Liwa will peak at 47°C. Fujairah will see a comparatively cooler maximum of 43°C.

Sea conditions

If you’re planning a trip to the beach this weekend, the NCM gives you the green light, as sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. Wind speeds will average 10 to 25km/h today, and reach 35km/h in coastal areas. By the sea, you can expect to see gentle waves rising to a maximum of two feet on-shore, and three feet off-shore.

Weekend outlook

The weather is expected to remain fair to partly cloudy on Sunday, with clouds developing over eastern parts of the country by the afternoon. Winds will remain light to moderate, freshening at times, while sea conditions stay slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Looking ahead to Monday, the NCM forecasts a chance of convective cloud formation over eastern and southern regions, bringing the possibility of rainfall by the afternoon. Fresh winds with speeds of up to 40km/h may also cause blowing dust in some areas, so it’s best to limit exposure to the elements at the start of the coming week.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Dubai 46°C 30°C

Abu Dhabi 47°C 30°C

Al Ain 47°C 33°C
