Foresight constellation reaches five satellites, boosting AI-powered geospatial intelligence and global coverage
Abu Dhabi: Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, has announced that its Foresight-3, Foresight-4, and Foresight-5 satellites are now fully operational.
The milestone expands the Foresight Earth Observation (EO) constellation to five Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites, enabling continuous data acquisition and the delivery of decision-grade geospatial intelligence.
The three satellites were developed in partnership with Finland-based ICEYE, supporting technology transfer, strengthening local capabilities, and advancing supply chain localisation. Integration and testing were completed at Space42’s Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) facility in Abu Dhabi.

Enhanced global monitoring
The satellites were launched into mid-inclined Low Earth Orbit, extending coverage across strategically important regions where more than 90 percent of the global population resides.
The Foresight constellation provides high-resolution SAR imagery to Space42’s AI-powered geospatial intelligence platform, GIQ, which converts raw data into actionable insights within minutes. Operating across complementary orbits ensures consistent imaging performance regardless of time of day or weather conditions.
With a resolution of up to 25 centimetres and all-weather imaging capabilities, the system enables precise monitoring and detection of small-scale changes on Earth.
Impact and applications
GIQ processes the data into decision-making tools that support a range of applications, including emergency response, infrastructure monitoring and operational optimisation.
The platform can reduce emergency response times by up to 90 percent, lower predictive maintenance costs by up to 30 percent, and improve operational efficiency by up to 25 percent.
Growing demand for EO solutions
Demand for Earth observation capabilities is increasing as governments and industries rely on geospatial intelligence to manage risk, improve operations, and support climate and security objectives.
By 2030, EO insights are expected to generate more than US$700 billion in economic value while contributing to emissions reduction across multiple sectors.
Supporting UAE space ambitions
The expansion of the Foresight constellation aligns with the UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030 and efforts to position the country as a global provider of advanced Earth observation capabilities.
