The UAE enters one of its hottest summer phases, with dry heat, rising humidity and calm seas forecast today.
Dubai: Prepare for a hot, dry day ahead, as the UAE heads into the second phase of summer – the Jamrat Al Qayd season, which is characterised by intense aridity and warm, dry winds.
Steady low-40s heat
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), temperatures are climbing today, into the low-40s. Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman are seeing a peak of 40°C, while Abu Dhabi will hit 41°C. Al Ain and Liwa are set to see the highest temperatures today, of 45°C.
Relative humidity is also on the rise to 80% in coastal regions and 70% in internal areas.
According to the NCM, coastal and island regions of the UAE will see maximum temperatures of 37°C to 42°C, while inland areas will experience warmer conditions, between 41°C and 47°C. The coolest regions today are mountainous areas of the country, where the temperature will range from 31°C to 37°C.
Time for the beach
The NCM forecasts light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds, freshening at times, and reaching speeds of up to 35km/h.
With these gentle winds, sea conditions are expected to remain slight and calm along both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. You can expect wave heights of just one to two feet on-shore, and two to three feet off-shore, making it the perfect condition for evening dips in the sea.
