NCM forecasts partly cloudy skies and temperatures holding steady in the low- to mid-40s.

Dubai: Today’s weather brings partly cloudy skies, and temperatures holding steady in the low- to mid-40s. However, as we head into the weekend, expect humidity to build up, with the possibility of fog in the early morning hours.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the weather will be fair in general today, with partially cloudy skies, especially towards the northern and eastern parts of the country.

Humidity spike

Coastal areas and islands are expected to peak between 35°C and 41°C, while internal areas will reach 41°C to 47°C. Abu Dhabi and Ajman are hitting 40°C today, while Dubai will be at 41°C and Sharjah 42°C.

Humidity levels are on the rise, ranging between 70% to 90% in coastal regions, like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and reaching 85% in internal and mountainous areas of the country. This means the air can feel heavy and saturated, especially during the nighttime.

If you’re out and about early tomorrow morning, stay cautious, as the NCM forecasts the possibility of fog and mist formation because of high humidity levels. In such situations, visibility can drop considerably, so motorists are advised to drive carefully.

Calm sea conditions

Light to moderate winds, blowing from the southwest to northwest at speeds of 10 to 20km/h, may freshen at times and increase to 35km/h today in internal areas, and up to 40km/h along the coast, according to the NCM.

Here is the NCM forecast for sea conditions in the region:

Arabian Gulf: Expected to remain slight to moderate. Wave heights on-shore are expected to reach two feet, while off-shore waves may reach up to five feet.

Sea of Oman: Sea conditions remain much calmer, as the forecast is for ‘slight’ conditions throughout the day. This means you can experience gentle waves rising to a maximum of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:

Maximum Temp (°C) Minimum Temp (°C)

Dubai 41°C 32°C

Abu Dhabi 40°C 31°C

Al Ain 45°C 31°C

Sharjah 42°C 32°C

Ajman 40°C 33°C

Fujairah 39°C 34°C

Ras Al Khaimah 44°C 32°C

Umm Al Quwain 39°C 31°C

Liwa 43°C 29°C
